Protein fingerprint

Following  digestion  of a protein  with another  reagent or trypsin ,  the resulting mixture  of  peptides  can  be  separated  through  electrophoretic or chromatographic process.  The  resulting  pattern  or peptide  map  is diagnostic   of  the  protein  by  which  the  peptides   were  produced   and  is referred  to as the protein’s  ?ngerprint.  Contrast of protein ?ngerprints can be used to recognize mutations in a protein as the altered amino acid may modify the properties of one of the peptides.
