Calorising
It is the commercial name for the cementation of a metal surface along aluminium. The procedure is intended primarily as means of protecting iron from oxidation at elevated temperatures instead of from corrosion.
Calorised coatings have proved to be quite resistant to attack by sulphurous gases, and such materials have significant application in the oil refining industry. Other application includes carburising, furnace parts, and heat treatment boxes and pyrometric equipment where oxidation take place at high rate.
