Applications:
Proportional plus rate control is generally used along with large capacity or slow-responding procedures such as temperature control. The leading action of the controller outcome compensates for the lagging features of huge capacity, slow processes.
Rate action is not commonly employed within fast responding processes such as flow control or noisy processes since derivative action responds to any rate of change in the error signal, involving the noise.
Proportional plus rate controllers are meaningful within processes that are often started up and shut down since it is not susceptible to reset windup.
