Table shows the major chemical or final compounds of cement. They are also known as Bouges' compounds.

These last compounds of cement are formed during calcinations in the following order :

C₄AF, C₃A, C₂S and C₃S

The properties of all these last compounds of cement are discussed as follows:

Tri-calcium Silicate (C₃S)

It possesses the following properties:

(a)        It hydrates rapidly.

(b)       It generates more heat of hydration.

(c)        It develops early strength.

(d)       It has fewer resistances to sulphate attack.
