Indifference curve cannot touch either axis:
indifference curve cannot touch either axis. If an indifference curve touches x - axis as IC2 in Figure 4.8 at G, it implies that the consumer will be having OG quantity of apple and none of beer. Similarly, if an indifference curve IC1 touches y - axis at F, the consumer will have only OF quantity of beer and none of apple. The assumption that the consumer buys two goods in combinations is violated.
