Objectives of Process FMEA
The objectives of process FMEA are as follows:
The FMEA drives process improvements like the primary objective, along an emphasis on error/mistake proofing solution.
The FMEA addresses all high risk failure modes, as recognized by FMEA team with executable action plans. All of other failure modes are considered.
The pre-launch & production control plans let the failure modes from the procedure FMEA.
The FMEA is integrated & consistent with the process flow diagram & the process control plan. The process FMEA let the design FMEA, if available like part of its analysis.
The FMEA considers all of major "Lesson Learned" (such like, campaigns, warranty non-conforming product, customer complaint is input to failure mode identification).
- Special or Key Characteristics
The FMEA identifies suitable key characteristics candidate as input to the key characteristics selection process, if applicable because of company policy.
The FMEA is completed throughout the "window of opportunity" where it should most powerfully impact the design of product or process.
The right people contribute as part of the FMEA team throughout the analysis and are adequately trained in FMEA methods. A facilitator should be utilized, if needed.
The FMEA document is totally filled out "by the book", by including "action taken" and new RPN values.
Time spent by the FMEA team as soon as possible is an efficient & effective use of time, with a value added result.
