Water Treatment Assignment Help

Assignment Help: >> Principles of Water Treatment - Water Treatment

Water Treatment:

Water treatment is essential to remove the impurities which are hold in water as found in nature.  The Control or elimination of these impurities is essential to scale formation, combat corrosion, and fouling of heat transfer surfaces throughout the reactor facility and support systems.

The subsequent are three purposes for using extremely pure water in reactor facility systems.

1. To minimize corrosion, that is enhanced through impurities

2. To minimize radiation levels in a reactor facility.  A few of the natural impurities and most of the corrosion products become highly radioactive after exposure to the neutron flux in the core region.  These soluble and insoluble substances may be carried to all parts of the system If not removed,.

3. For minimize fouling of heat transfer surfaces.  The Corrosion products and other impurities might deposit on core surfaces and other heat transfer regions that result in decreased heat transfer capabilities through fouling surfaces or blockage of critical flow channels. An Area of high concentrations of these impurities and corrosion products might also lead to extreme conditions of the several corrosion processes along with resultant failure of components or systems.

There are various processes used in reactor facilities to purify the water in the systems and water used as makeup. The Deaeration is used to strip dissolved gases and filtration is effective in the removal of insoluble solid impurities, or ion exchange removes undesirable ions and replaces them with acceptable ions.  Classical ionized impurities found in water are display in Table 1.
