Thioethers:
Thioethers (or sul?des) are prepared through the SN2 reaction of primary or secondary alkyl halides along with a thiolate anion (RS-). The reaction is identical to the Williamson ether synthesis.

Symmetrical thioethers can be prepared via treating an alkyl halide along with KOH and an equivalent of hydrogen sul?de. The reaction generates a thiol which is ionized once again by KOH and reacts with other molecule of alkyl halide.
