Features:

The main features of this process are as follows :

• Make a two part pattern.
• A mould material is utilized that is a plaster of paris mixture (fast setting) to create two cavities. This might have some additives to develop properties. Foamed plaster might be utilized to increase permeability.
• After setting up these cavities shall be dried in an oven to eliminate moisture.
• The Antioch procedure is optional and enhanced mould permeability by dehydrating in an autoclave, and hydrating for number of hours.
• The mould halves are then connected and heated.
• Molten metal is poured in the prepared mould cavity. As it's known that in plaster moulding mould porosity is low. Hence, pressure or vacuum might be utilized to encourage total filling of the mould.
• The final part is eliminated and cleaned. Generally, no machining is needed.
