Patterns

Usually the patterns for plaster-mould casting are built from polished metal, sealed wood or lacquered plaster. Plaster slurry is poured over the pattern that is a match-plate pattern. Whenever the mould has started to set, the pattern is placed in an oven and baked so that all moisture is eliminated from the mould. Moisture in the mould shall form gasses and steam while the metal is poured and might cause the moulds to explode or crack.
