Heat Transfer:
Good heat transfer properties are desirable from the fuel boundary to the coolant in sequence which the heat generates will be efficiently transferred.
To a constant amount of heat transfer, a degraded heat transfer features needs higher fuel temperature, that is not desirable. Thus, desirable heat transfer properties in the selection of reactor materials, particularly those used as core cladding and heat exchanger tubes are a main consideration.
Cost:
Capital costs for building a classical nuclear facility could be millions of dollars. A main portion of the cost is for plant material; thus, cost is an important factor within the selection of plant materials.
