Basic Principle

For fast and approximate surveying, while great precision and accuracy is not required, plane table surveying techniques is extremely suitable. It is particularly convenient for filling the details among the stations already fixed and surveyed through more precise method of triangulation or theodolite traversing. For little area surveys, plane table is recommended. The great benefits of this technique are that field work and map plotting is achieved simultaneously through use of graphical surveying. The main principle used in plane table surveying is in which an unknown point of interest can be established through measuring its directions from known points.
