Voltage Multipliers

  • These are circuits that give a dc output that is multiple of the peak input voltage. For instance, a voltage doubler gives a dc output voltage which is twice the peak input voltage, & so on.
  • When voltage multipliers give an output voltage which is much higher than the peak input voltage, they are not power producer. While a voltage multiplier enhance the peak input voltage by a given factor, the current is reduced by around the similar factor.
  • Due to this, usually voltage multipliers are utilized in low current high voltage applications. (Since in cathode ray tube in a television).
