Resistance in Parallel

            Let two resistances having terminals A, B and C, D as indicated in the figure

            If we connect A with C & B with D they are called to be connected in parallel.

            The corresponding of these two resistances will be

                              1/Req = 1/R1 + 1/R2= (R1R2)/(R1+R2)

            If N resistances are connected in parallel their corresponding will be

                              1/Req =1/R1+1/R2+1/R3+....+1/RN

For Example

Solve the given circuit.

Solution:                      1k is in parallel having 1k Ω so

                                                Req = (R1R2)/(R1+R2 )

                                                        = 1/2

                                                       =0.5 k Ω
