Resistance

  1. The fact that a wire conducting a current might become hot is evident that the work done by the applied voltage in generating current is because of accomplishment against some form of opposition.
  2. This opposition, which restrict the current, is known as resistance.
  3. The atoms of a copper wire contain a large number of free electrons, which might be moved simply by a potential difference.
  4. So, the copper wire has small opposition to the flow of free electrons while voltage is applied, equivalent to low value of resistance.
  5. However, Carbon contains fewer free electrons than copper.
  6. While the similar amount of voltage is applied to the carbon as to the copper, fewer electrons will be flow.
  7. Carbon opposes the current more than copper, hence; contain a higher value of resistance.
