Q: Calculate the value of V in given circuit.

Solution:
We need to calculate the voltage across whole circuit. 4kΩ resistor & 14kΩ resistor are in series so their joint effect =14+4=18kΩ.

Now 18kΩ resistor & 9kΩ resistor are in parallel
18k||9k = (18 x 9)/27 =6kΩ

6k resistor is parallel along 12kΩ resistor
6k||12k= (6 x 12)/18= 4kΩ

Now 2kΩ resistor is series along 4kΩ resistor so the net resistance will be
= 2k+4k=6k Ω

Therefore the value of voltage drop across the equivalent 6kΩ resistor
V = IR
= 6k x 1 =6000volts.

At point c the current should divide into two parts but due to short circuit between c & D whole current will come at point D.

Now through current division rule the needed current will be
I = (6k/12k) x 1
=0.5A
