Q:     Calculate the value of voltage across 3k Ω resistance in the given circuit.

Solution:

We need to calculate the value of voltage across 3kΩ resistor. The current divides into two parts at point A, one through 12kΩ resistor and other through series combination of 3kΩ & 1kΩ resistors.

Therefore the current passing through series combination of 1kΩand 3kΩ might be calculated like:          

                                  I = 12/ (4+12)   x 1

                                      = 12/16    x 1 = 0.75 A

Similar current is passing through the series combination of two resistors therefore the voltage across 3kΩ resistor shall be

                                                 V = IR

                                                    = 0.75 x 3 = 2250 volts Ans.
