Example of pH:
Example: The hydrogen focus, [H+], of a solution is 4.8 x 10-8 moles/liter. What is the pH of the solution?
Solution: pH = -log [H+]
= -log (4.8 × 10-8)
= 7.32
Example: The pH of a solution is 3.83. What is the hydrogen concentration of the solution?
Solution: [H+] = 10-pH
= 10-3.83 moles/liter
= 1.48 × 10-4 moles/liter
