Managing System Performance
The performance of a computer system depends upon how the system uses and allocates its resources. It is very important to monitor the performance of the system regularly since this would enable to know about its behavioral pattern under normal conditions. The administrator of system should essentially foresee and be able to recognize a problem whenever it occurs.
There is some following System resources that affect performance include:
- Central processing unit (CPU) - It processes instructions and receiving instructions from memory and executing them
- Input/output (I/O) devices - I/O devices transfer information into and out of the computer. Like a device could be a terminal, a disk drive, keyboard, or a printer
- Memory - the Physical (or main) memory is the amount of memory random access memory (RAM) on the system
