Spaced Practice

Learning takes place easily if the practice sessions are spread over a period of time. New worker learn better if the orientation programme is put on a two or three day period, rather than covering it all in one day. Usually for memorising tasks, 'massed' practice is more effective. Imagine the way schools ask the children to say the Lord's Prayer aloud. Could you memorise a long poem by learning just one line per day? You tend to forget the starting of the poem by the time you attain the last stanza. For 'acquiring' skills as stated by Mathis & Jackson, usually spaced practice is the best. This incremental approach to skill attainment minimises the physical fatigue that deters learning.
