Mentoring
In an organisation, Mentoring is a relationship in which a senior manager supposes the responsibility for grooming a junior person. Generally technical, political and interpersonal skills are conveyed in such type of relationship from the more experienced person. A mentor is a, spouse, teacher, counsellor, developer of skills and host, intellect, guide, exemplar, and most vitally, facilitator & supporter in the realisation of the vision the young person (protégé) has about the type of life he wants as an adult. The major objective of mentoring is to help worker attain psychological maturity and effectiveness and obtain integrated with the organisation. In a work situation, such kind of mentoring can take place at both formal and informal levels, based on the prevailing work culture & the commitment from the top management. Formal mentoring may be very useful, if management invests time & money in such relationship building exercises. The vital features/processes of mentoring can be presented in figure thus
