Alkenes:
Alkenes are hydrocarbons holding two fewer hydrogen atoms than the corresponding alkane. The common formula for alkenes is CnH2n. Those molecules will have a double bond as described in another figure.
Since there are fewer hydrogen atoms than the maximum probable, alkenes are unsaturated hydrocarbons. A chief source for alkenes is the cracking of alkanes.
