Batch Operation:

The batch method consists of immersing the resin in the solution in a container and allowing the equilibrium to be created. The extent of exchange of ion is limited by the selectivity of the resin under equilibrium conditions. Therefore, unless the selectivity is quite favourable, only an associative small part of the total capacity of the resin can be utilized. It is convenient to use a resin batchwise but it is generally impractical to regenerate the resin for reuse batch-wise.
