Applets and Applications:
Java could be used two types of programs: applets and applications. An application is a program which runs on your computer, under the OS of which computer. That is, an application created through java is more or less such as one created using C or C++ program. Whenever used to create applications, java is not much different from any other computer language. Quite, it is Java's ability to make applets which makes it important. An applet is an application designed to be transmitted over the Internet and executed through a Java-compatible Web browser. An applet is in fact a tiny Java program, dynamically downloaded across the network, such like an image, sound file, or video clip. An important difference is that an applet is an intelligent program, not just a media file or animation. Alternatively, an applet is a program which can react to user input and dynamically change-not just run the similar animation or sound over and over.
An exiting as applets are, they would be nothing more than wishful thinking if java were not do address the two fundamental problems related along with them: portability and security. Before continuing, let's describes what these two terms mean relative to the Internet.
