Neural Network Applications In Cell Design
Artificial Neural Networks or ANN has emerged like a viable means for intend of Cellular Manufacturing or CM systems and Group Technology. Group Technology is a wide philosophy aimed at:
(a) Detection of part families, based upon similarities in design or and manufacturing features.
(b) Systematic exploitation of such similarities in each phase of manufacturing operation.
Group technology has been explained to be, in essence that a broad philosophy such is aimed at detection of part families, based upon similarities in design or and manufacturing features and systematic exploitation of such similarities in each phase of manufacturing operation. The different elements of Group Technology and Cellular manufacturing are shown through Figure given in below.
In current years, cell design technique has bypassed the cumbersome coding exercise. They are at this time based more on a part routing's direct analysis, to know parts along with similar routings and machine needs. Early efforts of employing neural networks for cell design or group technology were devoted to recognition of part families based upon manufacturing and design features, whilst later efforts concentrated on part-machine groupings based upon part routing's direct analysis. The neural network's applications for Cellular manufacturing or Group Technology have been classified beneath several main application areas that are detailed in below:
