IP Address
An IP address is a numeric identifier which is assigned to every machine on an IP network. It is used to recognize the location of the device which is assigned to it on the network. An IP address of the machine is a software address and not a hardware address.
TCP/IP host is recognizing through a logical IP address. A unique IP address is needed for every host and the network elements uses TCP/IP for purposes of communication.
The IP addresses recognize the location of the system on the network and it is worldwide unique format.
