Characteristics of LAN
A LAN consists of software and hardware which give the capability to interconnect a variety of data-communicating devices inside a limited area. The LANs have become an integral category of computing and data communication. Presently, most computer manufacturers give a few means for connecting their equipment to a LAN. That is expected which, in the future, installation and use of LANs will raise dramatically.
Users connected to a LAN can share devices like as printers, processors, and disk storage. The many efficient use of every device can be achieved through permitting access to it through multiple users; they require getting individual devices for every user is eliminated. For instance, through a LAN, various workstations can use a single disk.
Although networks as an overall permit a variety of intelligent devices to exchange data, various important characteristics distinguish a LAN from a WAN.
