Variation of Conductance with Concentration:
The conductivity of an ionic solution increases with increasing concentration. For strong electrolytes, the increase in conductivity with increase of concentration is sharp. However, for weak electrolytes, the increase in conductivity is more gradual. In both cases the increase in the conductivity with concentration is due to an increase in the number of ions per unit volume of the solution. For strong electrolytes, which are fully ionised, the raised within conductivity is almost proportional to the concentration. Within weak electrolytes, therefore, the increase in specific conductance is not large because of the low ionisation of the electrolytes, and consequently the conductivity does not go up so rapidly as in the case of strong electrolytes.
