DNA–The Primary Informational Macromolecule
Whole living organisms are dependent on three kind of very huge molecules for essentially all of their biological functions. These molecules are DNA and are classified as biological macromolecules. Without DNA all known forms of life could not exist. This is because each molecule plays an indispensable role in biology. DNA is informational macromolecules which encodes the complete group of instructions which are need to assemble maintain and reproduce every living organism.
The term macromolecule is used ambiguously to mean a molecule comprised of any large number of atoms but more and more it is understood to mean only those molecules comprised of at least 100 atoms. The Macromolecules may also be referred to less specifically as polymers.
The bulk of macromolecules are found in biology and biochemistry in the form of long protein chains and nucleic acids like as DNA. This class of molecules is sometimes referred to as biopolymers or biomacromolecules.
