Culture of bacteria in the laboratory
The microbiological culture or microbial culture is a technique of multiplying microbial organisms through letting them reproduce in predetermined culture media under controlled laboratory conditions. The Microbial cultures are used to determine the category of organism its abundance in the sample being tested or both. It is one of the main diagnostic techniques of microbiology and used as a tool to determine the cause of infectious disease through letting the agent multiply in a predetermined medium.
The solid source for bacterial growth is essential if organisms are to be inaccessible. In the laboratories of Robert Koch gelatin was 1st used to achieve bacteria colonies. The Agar now serves as a more useful material it will remain solid until heating and then will solidify as it cools. Before it cools it can be poured into petri dishes. By using sterile methods minimizes the contamination of the agar before you are ready to inoculate it with bacteria from other sources. The Microscopes can then be used to identify specific bacteria. This lab may take various days keep all data and observations in a separate notebook to be compiled and organized into a final lab report.
