Linear Measurement with Electromagnetic  Distance Measurement Instruments

Today in the market electronic equipments called electromagnetic distance measurement (EDM) instruments have come for measuring distances. They depend on the measurement of electromagnetic waves and measuring, by phase difference technique even fraction of wavelength. They even display the distance measured. They are expensive and delicate. Hence commonly they are not used for ordinary surveying. The details of such measurements are not considered under the scope of this course.
