Personal observation

The analyst observes the worker(s) performing the job. The tasks performed, the pace at which activities are performed, the working conditions, etc., are observed throughout a complete work cycle. At the time of  observation, certain precautions should be taken which are following:

1.   The analyst ought to observe average workers during average conditions.
2.   The analyst should observe without directly attainment involved in the job.
3.   The analyst ought to make note of the specific job require and not the behaviours specific to specific workers.
4.   The analyst has to make sure that he achieved a proper sample for generalisation. This method permit for a deep understanding of job duties. It is suitable for manual, short period job activities. On the negative side, the technique fails to take note of the mental aspects of jobs.
