In this method, the job analyst in fact performs the job in question. The analyst therefore receives first-hand experience of contextual factors on the job by including social demands, physical risk, emotional pressures and mental requirements. This method is useful for jobs that may be easily learned. It is not appropriate for jobs that are hazardous (for example fire fighters) or for jobs that needs extensive training (for instance: pharmacists, doctors).
