Electric Arc Furnaces:

Electric arc furnaces (EAF) are frequently used in big steel foundries and steel mills. The metal is charged into the furnace, along additives to make recovery of slag simple, and heat to melt the metal is generated with an electric arc through three carbon or graphite electrodes. The electric arc furnace is lined along refractories that slowly decompose and are eliminated with slag. Usually electric arc furnaces also employ air emissions apparatus to capture most air pollution.
