Primers
This paint consists of pigment, linseed oil, and turpentine or some of other solvent to thin the mixture to brushing consistency. Drying occur partially of the solvent but chiefly by oxidation of the vehicle in vegetable oil. Sometimes magnesium silicate is added up to impart developed resistance to cracking of the paint film. The drying time, hardness and elasticity of paints films based principally on the drying oil, or combination of drying oils used. Oil paint makes an outstanding coating for wood and is sometimes utilized on production finishing of metals.
