Psychological functions
Psychological functions are those features that improve the mentee's sense of competence, and identify efficiency in a professional role. These include following:
Role modelling: Mentors offer mentees a outline of values and behaviours to imitate
Acceptance and confirmation: mentors offer guidance, support and encouragement to mentees so that they may solve the problems independently and achieve confidence in course of time. Mentors also help people to learn regarding the organisation's culture and understand why things are done in definite ways.
Counselling: Mentors help out mentees work their personal difficulty, learn regarding what to do and what not to do, offer suggestion on what works and what doesn't, and do everything to demonstrate enhanced performance and get ready themselves for bigger responsibility.
Friendship: Mentors offer practical support and help to mentees so that they may indulge in mutually satisfying social interactions (having subordinates, peers ,bosses and customers)
