Introduction To Computer
An understanding of the nature of colour and visual communication, and an appreciation of what makes an effective image is needed for better understanding and presentation of the subject while we start with Computer Aided Design. The knowledge gained in this unit is associated later to the theoretical concepts covered in other units.
The objective of this unit is mostly to provide description of CAD/CAM hardware and its related terminology. The types of architectures of CAD/CAM systems, input devices and output devices are chiefly covered under this unit.
The images generated throughout Computer Aided Designing (CAD) are to be put on an output device. Almost all of the personal computers and workstations use huge monitors and are based on either Cathode Ray Tube (CRT) technology or Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) technology, while notebook or laptop computers have comparatively small sized display device and are based only on LCD technology.
