In During the selection and application of materials used for construction of a nuclear facility, several different material properties and factors must be considered depending upon the needs for every specific application. Commonly, these consist of both non-fuel reactor materials, used for structural and parts construction, and fuel materials. This lesson discusses a few of the considerations used in the selection procedure for plant materials involving material properties, fuel cladding, fuel, control materials, reflector material, and shielding materials.
