Inventory Master File

This contains a record of each item in the inventory that are momentarily and which have been ordered. The Material Requirement Planning processor operates on data contained in the Master Production Schedule, the Bill of Materials file, and the inventory master file and generates a variety of outputs such can be utilized in managing and planning plant operations. It comprises:

(a)   purchase orders that offer the authority to purchase raw materials or parts from outside vendors, along with delivery and quantities dates specified,

(b)   work orders, that offer the authority to assembling products, or produce parts in company's own factory,

(c)    rescheduling orders, showing changes in unpaid dates for open orders,

(d)   reports on inventory forecast and status, and

(e)   Performance report representing costs, actual versus planned lead time, item usage.
