Creep Parameters

In the range of temperature and for stress levels that are used in practice creep is a very slow process and for an appreciable deformation to take place it may be a very long time. For collecting information on creep of a new alloy it may generally take very long time (about 10,000 hours or 11 years). There is no way by which these tests can be accelerated and technological development cannot wait for assimilation of data on a new material which has been developed say before a year or two. Efforts were concentrated on means to develop methods which could predict long-term creep behaviour by making use of short-term test. Such methods depended upon extrapolation of data.
