Re-Configurable Manufacturing Systems

Whilst new product styles are being introduced along with ever-shortening life cycles, the cost of designing, installing, and building a new manufacturing system all time, is quite prohibitive. Hence, one alternative is to reconfigure and reuse components of the original system in an innovative manufacturing system. It leads to invent of new term as: "Reconfigurable manufacturing systems". These consist of:

Machine tools and another production machines designed along with a three-point base that permits them to be readily lifted and stimulated by a forklift truck or crane.

Modular design or implementation of system component to allow hardware component from various machine builders to connected together.

In computer controls Open architecture to allow data interchange among software packages from various vendors.
