Level of Automation
Depending upon the level of manufacturing, automation systems are divided into given types as:
Single Station Manned Cell
This is the condition of one machine and one worker. Machine is moreover manually operated or semi-automated.
Single Station Automated Cell
This is a totally automated machine able of undergoing unattended operation for extended periods of time that is longer than one machine cycle.
Multi Station Manual System along with Variable Routing
This contains multiple stations that are semi operated or manually-automated. The layout and work transport system permits for several routes to be followed via the parts or products. Work transport is moreover manual or mechanized.
Multi-Station Automated System along with Variable Routing
This is similar as above except that the stations and work transport are entirely automated.
Multi-Station Manual System with Fixed Routing
Such manufacturing system consists of two or more automated stations given as a production line or similar configuration, along with one or more workers at every station. Work transport among stations is either manual or mechanized.
Multi-Station Automated System with Fixed Routing
This system comprises of two or more automated stations. The operations are in order, hence necessitating a fixed routing, normally laid out as a production line. Work transport is entirely automated.
