Mass Is A Scalar Assignment Help

Assignment Help: >> Mass - Mass Is A Scalar

Mass Is A Scalar:

The mass of a particle or object has magnitude (i.e., size or extent) but not direction. It can be symbolized as a certain number of kilograms, like the mass of the Sun or the mass of the Earth. Mass is customarily indicated by the lowercase italicized letter m.

You may think that mass can have direction. Whenever you stand somewhere, your body presses downward on the floor, the pavement, or the ground. When someone is more massive than you, his or her body presses downward also, though harder. When you get in a car and accelerate your body press backward in the seat and also downward toward the center of the Earth. Though this is force, not mass. The force you sense is caused in part by your mass and in part by gravity or acceleration. Mass itself has no direction. When you go into outer space and become weightless, you will have similar mass as you do on Earth (supposing that you do not lose or gain mass in among times). There won't be any force in any direction unless the space vessel starts to accelerate.
