Career Planning vs. Human Resource Planning
Human Resource planning is the procedure of analysing & estimating the requirements for and availability of workers. Through Human Resource planning, the Personnel department is capable to make a summary of skills and potentials available within the organisation. Career planning assists in searching that worker who could be groomed for higher level positions, on the base of their performance.
Human Resource planning provide valuable information regarding the availability of human resources for development, growth, etc. (construction of a new plant, expansion of facilities, launching a new product, opening a new branch etc.). Alternatively, career planning gives us only a picture of who could be successful in case any big developments leading to retirement, death, and resignation of current employees.
Human Resource planning is tied to the entire strategic planning efforts of the organisation. There cannot be an effectual manpower planning, if career planning is not carried out correctly.
