Solution:    we have to calculate the voltage V₀.  The circuit may be redrawn like  

                        Here from the circuit

                                                I₁ = - 2mA

                        By applying KVL equation for path 2

                                                2kI₂ + 4kI₂ + 2k (I₂ + I₁) = 12

                                                         6kI₂ + 2kI₂ + 2kI₁ = 12

                                                                           8kI₂ - 4 = 12

                                                                     8kI₂ = 16

                                                                           I₂ = 16/8 = 2mA

                        Now from the circuit

                                                            Vo = 2k(I₂)

                                                                             = 2k (2m) = 4 V
