Q:          Determine the current I0 & the voltage V0.

Solution:   We need to calculate the current I0 and the voltage V0. The circuit may be redrawn like

            By applying KVL to mesh 1

                                                            2kI1 +6k(I1 - I2 )= 12

                                                                    8kI1 - 6kI2 = 12

                                    By applying KVL at mesh 2

                                                  8kI2 + 4kI2 + 6k (I2 - I1) = 0

                                                                         18kI2 - 6kI1 = 0

By solving out equations of mesh 1 & mesh 2

                                                                     24kI1 - 18kI2 = 36

                                                                    -24kI1 + 72kI2 = 0

                                                                            54kI2 = 36

                                                                        I2 = 36/54k

                                                                        I2= 0.67mA   ------------(1)      

                        V0 will be equivalent to

                                                                                     V0 = 4k I2

                        Put the value of I2 from equation (1) we get

                                                                                      V0= 2.66 V
