Introduction to Kinematics of Machines:
In our everyday life, we come across a broad array of machines. It may be a sewing machine, a cycle or a motor cycle. Power is generated by the engine that makes use of a mechanism known as slider crank mechanism. This converts reciprocating motion of a piston in rotary motion of the crank. The power of an engine is transmitted to the wheels through the help of different mechanisms. If you visit LPG gas filling up plant or a bottling plant almost all of the functions is done by making use of mechanisms. These are just few examples. In general, in industries manual handling has been decreased to the minimum. In engineering, machines and mechanisms are two very common and regularly used terms. We will start with simple definition of these terms.
