Gear Force Analysis:
In the previous unit static analysis and dynamic analysis was described. The free body diagrams of different links of mechanism were also drawn. The equilibrium equations or force polygon may simply be drawn by utilizing free body diagram to estimate desired force. These principles of force analysis may be suitably extended for an analysis of gear forces. For spur gear analysis is made up in two dimensions however in case of helical, worn , spiral and bevel gears, the for analysis is to be made up in three dimensions. In this unit, the gear force analysis for different kind of gears has been discussed briefly.
Objectives
After learning this unit, you should be able to
- perform force study for spur gears,
- describe force analysis for spiral gears, and
- explain force analysis for bevel gears.
