Limitations:
i) IDA is essentially a destructive method. Because the sample is not preserved, it has a limited applicability.
ii) The method can be used for the determination of a single element at a time whereas for several samples multielemental methods are preferred.
iii) IDA has limited applicability for the components for those appropriate radiotracers are available.
iv) Blank levels might vary considerably from µg (10-6 g) to pg (10-12 g).
