Forward Biased pn Junction Diode Assignment Help

Assignment Help: >> Introduction to pn Junction Diode - Forward Biased pn Junction Diode

The Forward Biased pn-Junction (Diode)

While positive terminal of a battery is linked to the anode or P-side & negative terminal to the cathode or to the N-side of a diode (PN-junction ), the diode is called to be FORWARD-BIASED.

In the diagram to follow it might be noted that the arrow points to the more negative potential in each of the case.

In diagram a below the positive terminal of a battery by a resistor is linked the anode while the cathode is associated to the neutral terminal and the condition of the forward biased is fulfilled now.

In diagram b below the negative terminal of a battery is linked to the cathode while the anode is connected through a resistor to the neutral terminal and the condition of the forward biased is fulfilled now whereas IF means the forward conventional current which is flowing from +ve terminal to -ve terminal.

In diagram c  indicated below the +ve volts is applied towards the anode of the diode by a resistance & cathode terminal of the diode is attached to the neutral terminal via resistance which will fulfil the condition of forward biased now. Whereby IF indicate the forward conventional current.

In diagram d shown above the negative volts is applied to the cathode of the diode via a resistance & anode terminal of the diode is attached to the neutral terminal via resistance that will fulfil the condition of forward biased. Where IF indicate the forward conventional current shall set up in a diode.
